General Assembly Minutes
May 12, 2012
1. CITY COUNCIL MEETING
a. Debrief of last Tuesday – four people went, three spoke out against ticketing homeless people.
b. This coming Tuesday we will go to City Council again to speak out against harassing homeless people in SLO. This week we will identify ourselves as being part of Occupy SLO. We will continue to be current with our topics that we speak about.
2. WEDNESDAY MAY 9TH BANK OF AMERICA DEBRIEF
a. Went well. We will continue to coordinate activities with moveon.org when opportunities arise.
b. There is also a 99% Spring calendar where we can post Occupy SLO direct actions:

3. CAR FUND
a. Becky is organizing a car fund for the homeless couple who had their vehicle (home) impounded by SLOPD. Contact her for more information.
4. OCCUPY SLO WEBSITE
a. Needs to be updated, especially the calendar and the donations page
b. Trina will be added on as another administrator to work on it.
5. RESTRUCTURING THE TREASURY
a. Treasurer’s report will be given at every GA. We will have two treasurers: Becky and Jim(?). Becky will look into opening a credit union account and contact current treasurer for existing funds.
6. TRANSITION TOWNS GUEST SPEAKER SHANNON BIGGS
a. Transition Towns of San Luis Obispo is hosting a free event, “Eaarth: The Local Conversation 4” this Wednesday evening. All are encouraged to attend this free event. More information can be found here:

7. PRADO ROAD DIRECT ACTION
a. A possible direct action in the near future is in its planning stages. Anyone interested in participating should contact Trina for more information.
8. SPEAKER ON RON PAUL
a. Lacy offered to coordinate a time with her friend and anyone interested in learning more about Ron Paul.
b. Occupy SLO remains non-partisan so this would be done outside of normal Occupy SLO activities.
9. DISCUSSION TOPICS
a. Chase lost $2 billion during the last quarter. Will this result in another bank bailout?
b. DeVaul Ranch
c. Educating ourselves about causes of the current financial crisis and parties responsible. Good sources of information include the four-part Frontline series “Money, Power and Wall Street” available here:

d. Occupy Chicago, Coalition Against NATO/G8 (CANG8), the Midwest Antiwar Mobilization and many more will be in Chicago protesting the NATO/G8 summit. There are activities scheduled every day from May 12-21 with major actions May 19th-May 21st including a shutdown of Boeing. The full calendar is found here:
